BCAM

Every spring, BCAM gives out hundreds of awards to High School Players and Teams at the end of the basketball season.  This article is meant to help explain each award to coaches and describe the process for nomination and selection.  Past winners of all BCAM Player/Team Awards can be viewed at our website under the AWARDS tab.

2^nd ANNUAL COACHES VS CANCER GOLF SCRAMBLE presented by Two Men and a Truck:

            What a great day! 144 golfers showed up at the Walnut Hills Golf Club in East Lansing on August 8 to take part in a fund raising event for Coaches vs Cancer. Thanks to the generosity of our main sponsors (Two Men and a Truck, Auto-Owners, State Farm, Jersey Giant, M & M Distributors) along with all the other sponsors, we were able to raise $19,500. This is an increase of over $10,000 from last year’s event.

            I want to thank the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Programs at Michigan State, Central Michigan, Oakland University, University of Michigan and the Men’s Basketball Programs at University of Detroit Mercy and Eastern Michigan. They either played in the event, donated to the event or both.

            Keisha Brown, Women’s Basketball Coach at Alma College was our honorary chairperson. As a cancer survivor, she gave a moving talk at the dinner following golf. The Michigan National Guard conducted a free-throw contest that gave basketball coaches a chance to show their stuff.

            Plans are underway for our 3^rd annual event. We expect another full house so make you plans soon to take part. Details will be sent to BCAM members next spring.

MHSAA and BCAM have joined forces to promote sportsmanship

The MHSAA and the BOCCC have been joining forces to bring about videos to be used at the MHSAA Rules Meetings. These videos have stressed sportsmanship, better communication between officials and coaches, and parent involvement.
